Here is the agenda for DOKU.TECH in Dokufest 2022

DOKU.TECH has already published its agenda for the next edition, which will be held within its mother festival, Dokufest, on August 6th.

We are returning physically to Prizren with our 9th edition after two years.

After a successful edition in person at Kosovo’s capital, Prishtina, we will gather tech professionals, entrepreneurs, and executives at Prizren. Frequented by the heads of top-tier local and international companies, the premiant event for technology in the Balkans will be held on August 06, 2022, with the theme “My face is not a Barcode” to explore opportunities and threats of Artificial Intelligence and Data.

At this edition, we bring exclusively to ITP Prizren the famous author, Dan McQuillan, to get his approach presented in his book “Resisting AI: An Anti-fascist approach to Artificial Intelligence.”

The panel discussion with Dan will be facilitated by the Founder & CEO of Omdena Inc, Rudradeb Mitra, one of our keynote speakers in June’s edition, who is coming back to show how we can create values with Artificial Intelligence by bringing his own two decades-long experiences in this field. Rudradeb insists that grass root communities worldwide will drive the future of AI by solving real-world problems via collaboration. He will present the new chapter he started back in June here in Kosovo with AI Community in Kosovo.

The panel discussion with Dan McQuillan and Rudradeb Mitra will be held on August 06, at ITP Prizren, starting from 13:00 till 15:00.

In the meanwhile, DOKU.TECH will bring to Dokufest also a workshop on the Decolonial Gesture: embodied acknowledgments of settler colonial violences offline & online with Tiara Roxanne, a Postdoctoral Fellow at Data & Society in NYC. This workshop will be held on August 06, at ITP Prizren, starting from 15:00 till 17:00.

The workshop with Tiara will be focused on Setter Colonialism/Data colonialism and introducing the decolonial gesture/storytelling as an example from an Indigenous perspective.

Tiara’s research and artistic practice investigates the encounter between Indigeneity and AI by interrogating colonial structures embedded within machine learning systems.
